The Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce hosted the Tennessee Valley Authority's Economic Development team for a presentation on Economic Development Best Practices, bringing together elected officials, Chamber board members, and business leaders from across Overton County for an evening focused on how communities create jobs, grow their tax base, and raise the standard of living for residents.

The session covered the core components of a successful economic development effort, including business recruitment and retention, workforce development, strategic planning, and infrastructure improvements, and it was designed to give local decision makers a shared understanding of the practices that help rural communities compete for investment.

"Economic development is a dedicated effort to create and retain jobs, grow the tax base, and increase the standard of living for our community, and it is not just about recruiting new businesses," said Zach Stephens, President & CEO of the Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce. The presentation is part of the Chamber's ongoing work to strengthen the county's capacity to drive growth, attract investment, and create opportunities for Overton County residents, and it reflects the Chamber's role as the unified voice for business and economic development in the county, bringing together the partners, strategies, and resources needed to move the community forward.
