The Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce has been awarded $30,000 from the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development to support tourism marketing efforts that promote Livingston and Overton County as a destination for visitors from across the state and beyond.

The funding will allow the Chamber to market the community through its new tourism brand, Visit Historic Livingston Square, which positions the historic courthouse square as the heart of the visitor experience and the starting point for exploring all of Overton County. The brand welcomes travelers to the shops, restaurants, and history of downtown Livingston, then sends them just off the square to discover the outdoor recreation, scenic communities, and attractions found across the county, from Dale Hollow Lake and Standing Stone State Park to the unincorporated towns and backroads that give the Upper Cumberland its character. Tourism remains one of the county's most important economic drivers, bringing visitor spending to local restaurants, shops, lodging, and attractions while generating tax revenue that benefits every resident.

"Every dollar we invest in marketing this community is an investment in our small businesses and in the people who call Overton County home, and we are grateful to Commissioner Mark Ezell and the Department of Tourist Development for their continued partnership with rural Tennessee."

Morgan White, Tourism and Main Street Director, said the funding arrives at the perfect moment for the launch of the new brand. "Visit Historic Livingston Square was built around a simple idea, which is that the square is where a visit to Overton County begins," White said. "This funding gives us the resources to bring people to the heart of our community and then point them toward everything waiting just beyond it, and our goal is to turn a stop on the square into a full day, a weekend, and a reason to come back."

The Chamber will begin putting the funding to work in the coming months through targeted advertising, updated visitor materials, and campaigns built around the Visit Historic Livingston Square brand that are designed to draw travelers to Overton County throughout the year.
