The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development has awarded the City of Livingston a $1,000,000 Site Development Grant for property grading at the city's industrial site, positioning Livingston to achieve Select Tennessee certification and compete for future business investment.

Livingston is one of only six communities selected statewide in this round of Site Development Grant funding. The program is designed to help Tennessee communities prepare industrial sites for development by funding the infrastructure and site work that companies expect to find in place when evaluating locations for new facilities.

"Companies looking to expand or relocate want sites that are ready, and this grant allows us to remove one of the biggest obstacles standing between our industrial property and a signed deal," said Zach Stephens, President & CEO of the Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce. "Being one of six communities chosen across the entire state tells us that TNECD sees the same potential in Overton County that we do, and we intend to make the most of it."

Select Tennessee is the state's site certification program, which identifies industrial sites that have met a rigorous set of standards for infrastructure, access, and development readiness. Certified sites receive priority consideration from TNECD when the state markets Tennessee to prospective employers, and the grading work funded by this grant is a critical step toward earning that designation for Livingston's site.

The Chamber thanked TNECD for its investment in Livingston and recognized the City of Livingston and local officials for their work in securing the award.
