Through a partnership between the Livingston Civic and Garden Club and the Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce, $15,000 has been awarded through the Federal Historic Preservation Fund for foundation repairs to the Governor A.H. Roberts Law Office in downtown Livingston.

The grant, administered in Tennessee by the Tennessee Historical Commission and the State Historic Preservation Office, will fund work to stabilize the foundation of the building where Albert H. Roberts practiced law before going on to serve as the 33rd Governor of Tennessee. The Livingston Civic and Garden Club owns and maintains the building, and the Chamber assisted with the application process on the Club's behalf.

"Governor Roberts remains one of the most significant figures our county has produced, and the law office where he practiced is a piece of Tennessee history that happens to sit right here at home," said Zach Stephens, President & CEO of the Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce. "Stabilizing the foundation ensures it will still be standing for the generations who come after us. The Chamber was proud to assist with the application process, and we look forward to seeing this project come to fruition."

The application was prepared by Mark Dudney of the Upper Cumberland Development District, whose work on behalf of communities across the region continues to bring preservation and development resources to Overton County.

The Chamber extends its appreciation to the Tennessee Historical Commission and the State Historic Preservation Office for their investment in Livingston, to Mark Dudney and the Upper Cumberland Development District for preparing the application, and to the Livingston Civic and Garden Club for its continued stewardship of this building.
