The City of Livingston has been awarded $100,000 through the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development's Tourism Enhancement Grant to design and install gateway, multidirectional, kiosk, and historical wayfinding signage that will guide visitors to Livingston's Historic Downtown Square and to tourism assets located throughout the community.

The project, which is now nearing completion, is a partnership between the City of Livingston, Main Street Livingston, and the Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce, and the signage will be installed at key locations across Overton County rather than in the downtown area alone.

"Every visitor who stops here spends money at our restaurants, our shops, and our small businesses, and those dollars turn into local jobs and sales tax revenue that eases the burden on the families who live here year round," said Zach Stephens, President & CEO of the Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce. "That is why tourism matters, and what has been missing is a clear invitation to stop, which is exactly what this signage delivers throughout our community."

The new signage will welcome travelers at community gateways, direct them toward downtown and other points of interest, provide orientation at kiosk locations, and highlight the history that makes Livingston and Overton County a destination worth exploring.

"As the project wraps up, we look forward to watching visitors follow these signs from one corner of Overton County to the next and discover everything Livingston has to offer," Stephens said. "Stay on the lookout, because there is more signage on the way throughout Overton County."

Chamber leadership emphasized that the project would not have been possible without the collaboration between the City of Livingston, Main Street Livingston, and the Chamber, and expressed appreciation to the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development for its investment in the community.
